OIC is currently implementing several fledgling and successful programs in the Caribbean. For example, a network of farmers across the island of Jamaica is already well on its way in achieving organic certification and refining production thanks to the assistance provided by OIC. A similar network is about to emerge on the islands of St. Lucia and Dominica and will complement the one started in Jamaica. With the help of OIC, these otherwise struggling farmers are able to achieve new skills in order to improve their own livelihoods and the health of the land. I am asking you today to support us in deepening the capacity of OIC to carry out this important work. Your generous donation will go towards strengthening the grass roots networks that have been already established, and to expanding the initiative in order to create more opportunities for environmental, agricultural, and economic improvement across the Caribbean.
